Meet the members of Hiraeth Hope & Healing’s Board of Directors and learn more about the lived and professional experiences they bring to the organization’s leadership and governance.
Erin Cosentino, MSW, LSW
Co-Founder • President
Erin is an NPE whose unexpected DNA discovery in 2017 shaped her understanding of identity, family relationships, and belonging. She holds a Master of Social Work and is a Licensed Social Worker in New Jersey, with a professional background spanning education, mental health, and community support.
Erin is also a 500-hour Yoga Teacher, Reiki practitioner, and Search Angel. She co-founded Hiraeth Hope & Healing to help create connection, resources, and community for people navigating identity, origins, and complicated family discoveries.
Cindy McQuay
Co-Founder • Treasurer
Cindy is a Baby Scoop Era adopted person who was separated from her family of origin and adopted at three months old. At 18, she began seeking her records and original birth certificate, encountering firsthand the barriers adopted people face in accessing their own identities, histories, and information. Those experiences shaped her advocacy around adoption, separation trauma, identity, family preservation, and the systems that separate children from their families.
With the emergence of consumer DNA testing, Cindy became a Search Angel, helping others uncover biological connections and family histories, including work with Amerasian searches. She co-founded Hiraeth Hope & Healing in 2019 and brings her lived experience, advocacy, and commitment to truth, access, family preservation, and community to the organization’s leadership.
Dennis Clark, EdD, MPA
Secretary
Dennis is an NPE whose unexpected DNA discovery in 2018 grew from a longtime interest in genealogy and ultimately revealed a biological father he had never known. His experience led him to help other NPEs and adopted people navigate their own searches.
Professionally, Dennis works in higher education administration, managing global business operations for an international university presence, and serves on educational boards. He holds an EdD in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania and an MPA from New York University.
