Voices From Our Community

One Question. Many Voices.

Explore anonymous reflections from adults with lived experience in adoption, unexpected DNA discoveries, donor conception, search, reunion, identity, and origin loss.

Every story is unique, but many experiences echo across our community.

Voices From Our Community creates space for adults with lived experience to respond to thoughtful questions and share what they wish others understood.

How It Works

One Question Can Hold Many Voices

Hiraeth Hope & Healing poses questions about experiences that are often complex, deeply personal, or difficult to put into words.

1 | We Ask a Question
HH&H poses a thoughtful question grounded in the experiences represented within our community.

2 | Our Community Responds
Adults with relevant lived experience are invited to share their own perspectives, reflections, and experiences.

3 | We Share Their Voices
Responses are shared anonymously or with permission, allowing different perspectives to exist alongside one another.

4 | You Listen
There may be common threads. There may be very different experiences. Both belong here.

Who Responds?

Lived Experience Is at the Center

Questions are shared with adults whose lived experiences are relevant to the conversation, including experiences related to:

Adoption • Donor Conception • Late Discovery Adoption (LDA) • Unexpected DNA Discoveries (NPE) • Misattributed Parentage • Family Separation • Search & Reunion

Some questions speak to one particular lived experience, while others may resonate across several.

Community members speak only for themselves.

There is no single adoptee experience.
There is no single donor-conceived experience.
There is no single NPE experience.

Different experiences, feelings, relationships, and perspectives can exist alongside one another.

Community Expectations

Read With Curiosity. Listen Openly.

Some responses may resonate deeply. Others may challenge what you've previously heard, believed, or experienced.

These responses are not intended to represent everyone who shares a particular lived experience.

We invite you to approach each person's words with curiosity, compassion, and respect, without correcting, minimizing, or debating the validity of their experience.
