How Attachment Can Shape Connection

Attachment can influence how we experience closeness, trust, safety, independence, and connection within relationships.

For adopted people, donor-conceived people, people with unexpected DNA discoveries, and others navigating family separation or disrupted biological connections, experiences involving separation, loss, caregiving, family relationships, and belonging may add additional layers to how connection is experienced.

This visual guide explores attachment and some of the ways attachment patterns can show up in relationships, while recognizing that these patterns are not fixed labels and every person's experiences and relationships are different.
